2019 NI Awards
Welcome to the Northern Ireland Awards 2020.
Saturday 14th March 2020, 
Titanic Hotel, Belfast

The Northern Ireland Awards provide an annual opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our members and the priceless contribution they make to gymnastics within Northern Ireland. 

This is your opportunity to nominate that special person or club that you feel deserves one of the prestigious awards. The closing date for all nominations is 16th December 2019.

Although the awards ceremony is taking place in 2020, nominations should recognise activity that has taken place in 2019.

British Gymnastics Northern Ireland Award Categories
Volunteer of the Year
This award recognises an individual18+ who has volunteered their time and enthusiasm to help others enjoy gymnastics. Their contribution is seen as invaluable and their efforts instrumental in the work behind the scenes. It is desirable that individuals are members of British Gymnastics.

Young Volunteer of the Year 

This award recognises a young person between the ages of 11 and 18 who has volunteered their time and enthusiasm to help others enjoy gymnastics. To be eligible, individuals must be members of British Gymnastics.

Please note, shortlisting for volunteer awards will be made on the impact the volunteer has had over and above any coaching roles. Coaching awards are listed below.

Equality and Inclusion in Gymnastics Award 
This award recognises an individual or organisation that has demonstrated their ability, commitment and enthusiasm to reducing inequalities and widening access for their community, through an inclusive gymnastics environment for all who want to be involved. To be eligible, individuals and clubs must be members of British Gymnastics.

Young Coach of the Year 
This award recognises any full, part-time or volunteer coach aged 25 years or younger who demonstrates passion and enthusiasm to coaching. To be eligible, individuals must be members of British Gymnastics.

Participation Coach of the Year
This award recognises an individual 25+ who has made an outstanding contribution in getting more people starting, staying, and/or succeeding in local gymnastics through high quality delivery. To be eligible, individuals must be members of British Gymnastics.

Performance Pathway Coach of the Year 
(Talent Development and/or Performance Coach)
This award recognises an individual who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the development and progression of gymnasts within the talent development/high performance pools. This award is for coaches working at National and/or International level. To be eligible, individuals must be members of British Gymnastics.

Safeguarding Award 
This award recognises an individual who has delivered a passionate and committed service to the welfare and safeguarding of children within the gymnastics environment. To be eligible, individuals must be members of British Gymnastics.

Services to Gymnastics Award (Lifetime Achievement Award)
This award recognises an individual who has demonstrated commitment and enthusiasm to the development of gymnastics at all levels over many years (10+), outside of any coaching roles they’ve performed. To be eligible, individuals must be members of British Gymnastics.

Club of the Year

The Northern Ireland Club of the Year is presented to a British Gymnastics club that provides a quality and enjoyable experience to ALL its members. To be eligible, clubs must be affiliated to British Gymnastics.

Gymnastics Northern Ireland Award Categories
Gymnast of the Year 
This award recognises the dedication, hard work and outstanding achievements of gymnasts and their coaches throughout Northern Ireland. To be eligible, clubs must be affiliated to Gymnastics Northern Ireland & British Gymnastics, be 11 years old by 31st December 2019 and be a resident in Northern Ireland.

*Please note, there are 7 Disciplines for selection of the Gymnast of the year (one award per discipline*) which are as follows: Acro, Disability Gymnastics, Gymnastic for All (General/Recreational Gymnastics, GfA Activities e.g. Adults, FreeG, & TeamGym), Men’s Artistic (MAG), Rhythmic, Trampolining, Tumbling and DMT, & Women’s Artistic (WAG).

Special Recognition Award
This award recognises an individual or team performance achieved in spite of difficulties and obstacles whether they are physical, financial, social or otherwise. The nominees may include persons who fulfil the role of some, or all of the following: coach, participant, administrator, volunteer and/or team. To be eligible, clubs must be affiliated to Gymnastics Northern Ireland & British Gymnastics, be 11 years old by 31st December 2019 and be a resident in Northern Ireland.

The evening is dedicated to saying thank you to our amazing clubs, coaches, volunteers and gymnasts who deliver excellence in our sport. This is your chance to get involved and nominate. The closing date for all nominations is 5pm, 16th December 2019. 

Tickets for the Northern Ireland Awards are priced at £40per person and will be available to purchase soon.
