British Gymnastics is delighted to announce an award of £340,091 from Sport Northern Ireland’s (NI) Sports Sustainability Fund.
The Sports Sustainability Fund was designed to help address the economic consequences of the Covid-19 health pandemic and provide financial interventions needed to stabilise and sustain sports clubs and governing bodies enabling them to withstand the worst impacts of Covid-19.
In total, 12 gymnastics clubs will benefit from the funding that will help to minimise the financial stress on the sports sector due to lost income as a result of repeated lockdowns and ongoing restrictions. This will help to support clubs to return to gymnastics in a much stronger position and provide a lifeline to many clubs as they navigate their way out of the challenges faced over the past year.
David Marshall, Participation Director said: "On behalf of British Gymnastics and clubs in Northern Ireland, I want to express our thanks to the Department for Communities and Sport NI for the provision and management of this funding stream. It will be a huge relief to the clubs, giving them the opportunity to confidently plan and restart their operations and rebuild activities for all their members.
"The Award is a much-needed platform to help the sport recover from these difficult times and we look forward to seeing clubs start to reopen as restrictions continue to ease over the coming weeks and months."
