There has been a significant change to the legislation regarding data protection. A new regulation called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is now in place and is set to become adopted by UK Law. All companies within the EU have until May 2018 to ensure they are compliant with the new Regulation. The GDPR is the first comprehensive overhaul in around 20 years and has some significant changes to the way organisations can obtain, use and retain data in their day to day work; there are also increased penalties for companies who do not comply.
As a valued member club, we want to help you comply with the new GDPR to avoid any penalties.
British Gymnastics are providing a series of free workshops designed to enable you to demonstrate a basic awareness of what the GDPR is, your responsibilities for compliance and steps you need to take to ensure your club is GDPR compliant.
These workshops will help you to better understand the regulation and how to practically apply the GDPR requirements in your club. There will also be lots of opportunities to ask questions and explore the new membership system. The workshops are more in-depth and aimed at your management and administration team members, or those involved in the collection and management of personal data in your club.
