Performance Pathway Programme

Performance Pathway

Acrobatics Pathway

Following the success of British Acrobatic gymnasts at the World Championships 2014 and World Age Group Championships 2014, British Gymnastics is pleased to announce the launch of the Acrobatic Performance Pathway, funded in partnership with UK Sport, Sport England and Sport Northern Ireland, to increase the quality and size of the Acrobatic gymnastics talent pool across England and Northern Ireland.

The Acrobatic Performance Pathway will help early identification of talented Acrobatic gymnasts and provide opportunities for club coaches to be exposed to current methods, practices and training principals relating to the development of Acrobatic gymnastics talent.

Mens & Womens Pathway

For information regarding the Performance Pathway Programme and how this works, please visit the British Gymnastics website.

Your regional Performance Pathway Co-ordinator, Amy Fossheim, will work in partnership with your Regional Association and Home Nations to deliver two new platforms within the Performance Pathway.

1. The first platform will be a series of Clinics tailored to each discipline. They are designed specifically to help coaches gain further knowledge and confidence in how to deliver foundation skills required for quality results at Elite Grade competitions. They will also help coaches understand and improve the preparation of gymnasts for competition. These clinics are a recognised CPD (Continuous Professional Development) workshop.

2. The second platform will be to improve the quality and quantity of Regional Squad opportunities, by widening the base of the talent pool and improving the quality within it. The aim is to provide talented gymnasts with access to additional high quality training environments in preparation for regional representation at National Competitions.

The Performance Clinics and Camps, which have ran in the Southern Region so far, have been a success.

Trampoline Pathway

Following the success of the first year of the Performance Pathway in Trampolining, British Gymnastics is pleased to announce details of the programme for the coming cycle; October 2015 to June 2016.
The Performance Pathway has been set up by British Gymnastics to support the development of young gymnasts through a series of challenging, educational and engaging training camps based at three High Performance Centres across the country:

North England & Northern Ireland – City of Liverpool Trampoline Club
Midlands – Northampton Trampoline Gymnastics Academy
South England – OLGA Gymnastics and Trampoline Club

The programme is funded by Sport England and Sport Northern Ireland and is open to English and Northern Irish Gymnasts who have achieved a specific set of performance criteria.
