A huge congratulation to 7 West Midlands gymnasts who have been selected by British Gymnastics to represent Great Britain at the 26th World Age Group Championships 2018. The competition is the pinnacle event of the international calendar and acts as a Junior World Championships across 4 age groups; 11/12yrs, 13/14yrs, 15/16yrs and 17-21yrs.
The championships are taking place in St. Petersburg, Russia from 15th-18th November.
Selectees are from both City of Birmingham Gymnastics Club and Revolution Gymnastics Club.

• Bailey Forbes – Revolution – 11/12yrs Boys
• Mia Bevan – City of Birmingham – 13/14 Girls
• Amy Campbell – Revolution – 15/16yrs Girls
• Marcus Adams – City of Birmingham – 15/16yrs Boys
• Megan Surman – City of Birmingham – 17/21yrs Women
• Jaydon Paddock – City of Birmingham – 17/21yrs Men
Well done to Chris Porter from City of Birmingham being selected as a GBR coach for the event.
The selections come off the back of a successful British Championships in September, where the preliminary round is served as the qualification event for team selection. The gymnasts will be competing against the very best in the world for their relevant age group and are hoping to place in the top 8 in finals and potentially even win a world medal.
The event is self-funded, meaning that the gymnasts and their families have to raise the funds themselves. There are a few GoFundMe links around, if you know the gymnasts well or wish them well – please feel free to help them raise funds to cover the cost of the trip.
The West Midlands Amateur Gymnastics Association, all the WM clubs, parents, gymnasts and supports wish you all the very best of luck.
