Following the British Gymnastics lead, all further West Midlands regional events have been cancelled at least until the end of August.
Due to the current Covid-19 crisis and emergency lockdown the WMAGA Executive Committee have agreed that the annual regional gymnast levy for 2020/21 will be waived.
Hello to all clubs and members in the West Midlands,
I sincerely hope that you are all keeping fit and well.
I hope too that you are all keeping busy and managing the various different problems that have occurred during this difficult time of lockdown.
I have spoken to a number of clubs and been impressed by the many different ways that you have engaged with your gymnasts online. I know that British Gymnastics have been very proactive in putting advice and useful government information on their website to support clubs at this time. I would urge you to keep watching that space for developments, updates and advice.
Cancellation of Regional Events.
Following the lead from British Gymnastics, we have made the decision to cancel all upcoming regional events, in particular those scheduled to take place in July and August.
Annual Regional Gymnast Levy waived for 2020/21.
At a recent West Midlands Executive Committee, it was agreed that, in view of the present situation, possible financial concerns and the lack of regional competitions/events activity, we will waive the gymnast levy for next year (2020/21). We will also review the requirement for a regional club affiliation fee as the situation progresses.
We all hope that we can come out of this lockdown fairly soon and that life can get back to some sort of normality. We will obviously have to be guided by the Government and British Gymnastics as to when we can start to operate in clubs, can safely run events again and what protocols we will need to put in place to safeguard gymnasts, coaches and their families.
Best wishes to all.
Mike Weinstock - WMGA Chair.
