The 26th Acrobatic European Championships take place in Odivelas (Portugal) from the 16th-28th October. The event sees 558 gymnasts from 23 countries compete in the age group categories 11-16, 12-18, juniors and seniors.

The competition begins with the Age Group Championships on Friday 18th October, with junior and senior qualifications beginning on Monday the 21st. You can follow the event on the British Gymnastics Facebook Page and Twitter as well as keep up to date via reports on the website.

The British team consists of rising stars alongside some of the not only the country’s but some of the worlds best. Check out the profiles below and meet your 2013 senior team.

MxP Upcott  SmithD Mixed Pair - Dominic Smith (20) and Alice Upcott (15)

Alice and Dom’s greatest achievement as a partnership was winning the 2013 World Games. They both train at Heathrow Gymnastics Club and are the current British Mixed Pair Champions. This will be Alice and Dom’s first senior European Championships.

Women’s Pair - Danielle Jones (14) and Shanie-Redd Thorne (17)

Danielle and Shanie-Redd have had an extremely successful year being crowned 2013 Senior British Champions and then World Games Champions. Both train at King Edmund Acro Gym Club and will be looking to make their mark in their first senior European Championships.

WG LancasterMatthews  SpaldingH Women’s Group - Georgia Lancaster (17) Millie Spalding (15) and Elise Matthews (20)

Georgia, Millie and Elise are the current British Champions in the senior women’s group category and took silver at the 2013 World Games. The trio train at Heathrow Gymnastics Club.

Mixed Pair - Chris Rogers (22) and Eleanor Franks (15) 

Chris and Eleanor have now been together for a year and a half and train at Heathrow Gymnastics Club. In 2013 they won silver at the Bulgaria World Cup and followed this up with silver in the British Championships.

MP Thompson  Houston550  Men's Pair - Tim Pritchard (17) and Alex Houston (20)

Tim and Alex are competing together for the seventh consecutive year. They train at Deernes Valley Gymnastics Club and together they are the first British pair who to win consecutive British titles in all age groups: 11-16, 12-19, juniors (in 2012) and seniors (in 2013). In 2013 they won World Games silver.
