Gymnastics Enterprise Ltd (GEL) trading as ‘GYMSHOP’ is a wholly owned subsidiary of British Gymnastics and they are committed to providing our customers with the highest levels of service. This includes protecting the privacy of their customers and ensuring a secure online experience. In general, customers can view the GEL website without telling them who they are or revealing any information about themselves. Sometimes however, GEL needs to monitor website usage for web site and services development.

This policy (together with our Terms & Conditions and any other documents referred to on it) sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.

  1. What is personal information?
    Personal information is information about an individual who can be identified, or whose identity could be reasonably ascertained, from the information.

If you register with or buy from us you will be asked to provide certain information such as your name, address, details of your credit/debit card (only if you are paying by credit/debit card), telephone number and email address so that we can process and fulfill your order, notify you of your order status and inform you of special offers and promotions.

  1. How GEL collects personal information
    To deliver and enhance the services offered by GEL, certain personal information is collected. GEL collects personal information from individuals when:
  • The individual registers as a GYMSHOP member
  • The individual purchases from GYMSHOP
  • The individual requests information or assistance from GYMSHOP
  • The individual provides information to GYMSHOP staff
  • The individual participates in a GYMSHOP survey
  • British Gymnastics Members register with or purchase from GYMSHOP
  1. How GEL uses personal information
    GEL will only collect information that is necessary for them to carry out the primary purpose of providing services relating to selling items/awards & resources through GYMSHOP. Personal information may be used in order to:
  • Provide the services required including processing & despatching orders
  • Internal accounting and administration
  • Regulatory reporting and compliance
  • Help GEL to inform and identify other products or services that may be of benefit


As a wholly owned British Gymnastics (BG) subsidiary company, GEL will share information with British Gymnastics and The British Gymnastics Foundation (BGF); a charity that provides grants and supports community gymnastics and activity.

If GEL or a subsidiary company sends any information about services or products that are not required, or a member does not want personal information disclosed to any other organisations (including related organisations) they can advise GEL accordingly by writing to the Customer Service Team.

If the customer does not advise GEL otherwise, they will be deemed to have confirmed their agreement on their own behalf and/or on behalf of others that they represent.

  1. When we disclose personal information
    GEL discloses personal information to other organisations that is necessary to assist in providing services. The organisations include affiliated organisations and outsourced service or product providers who manage the services/products provided through GYMSHOP, including:
  • Couriers and fulfillment companies
  • Suppliers who supply direct to GYMSHOP customers – such as for bespoke or very large items of equipment which will be shipped directly from the supplier
  • Professional advisors, including accountants, auditors and lawyers
  • Government and regulatory authorities and other organisations, as required or authorised by law

GEL limits the use and disclosure of any personal information to such organisations for the specific purpose for which it is supplied.

When a customer provides GEL with personal information about other individuals, GEL relies on that customer to make the individual aware that the information has been provided to GEL and for what purpose, and to whom it may be disclosed and also how they can access their information. This is extremely important for people who may be buying on behalf of other people or organisations.

  1. Storage and Security of personal information
    GEL stores personal information on a computer database. The personal information may be held in both paper file and computer file form. GEL has implemented measures of a reasonable nature to ensure that all personal information is securely stored from misuse, loss and unauthorised handling.
  2. Accuracy of personal information
    GEL takes reasonable steps to ensure that whenever personal information is collected or disclosed, it is accurate, complete and up to date.
  3. Access to personal information
    The customer has a right to access their personal information, subject to some exceptions allowed by law. The customer can gain access to their personal information by contacting GEL. The customer may also advise GEL at any time about possible breaches of privacy, or inaccurate, incomplete personal information that may have changed.
