Scottish Gymnastics Wellbeing & Protection 3
Wellbeing and Protection training is an essential part of safeguarding children and supporting those who work with them. It is a mandatory requirement for all those working with children and young people in a club registered with Scottish Gymnastics. This course is for those who have undertaken training previously and need to renew. You should complete this training if you have completed Safeguarding Scotland 3 or Scottish Gymnastics Wellbeing & Protection 2.
The SGWP3 is a blended learning course that is in 2 parts:
1. Module 1: E-module (through Sportscotland Brightspace) (approx. 30-45 minutes)
This will give you a basic introduction to theory, knowledge and practice that underpins child wellbeing & protection in gymnastics.
You will receive an email prior to the zoom session from d2lsupport@learninginsport.brightspace.com. This email may be found in your junk mail. You will have a username in the email, and you will need to set up a password to use the online learning platform.
Please note: You must complete this prior to attending the zoom session. The tutor will have access to Brightspace and will see if you have completed the online module prior to the zoom tutor delivery.
2. Module 2: tutor facilitated online workshop (3 hour via Zoom)
This will enable candidates to build on learning gained in module 1:
• Duty of care
• Applying welfare
• Risk Management
• Culture
• Abuse recap
• Reporting concerns
• Understand your Roles and Responsibilities
• Parent, Coach athlete triangle
• Reporting concerns
• Scottish Gymnastics policies and procedures
• Bystanders
Candidates must complete both the online module and the zoom tutor delivery to gain their qualification. If you do not complete the online module, your safeguarding training will not be updated on gymnet and this will affect your insurance cover to continue coaching. The zoom link will be sent to you 48 hours prior to the delivery date.
3. Online post workshop feedback
The link will be given to you by the tutor. Please note:
• The minimum age to register on this course is 18
• This award is valid for 3 years from date of attendance
