Martin Laws takes over as Chairman of English Gymnastics

On Wednesday 14th October 2016, Martin Laws officially took over as the new Chairman of English Gymnastics (EGA) following the retirement of Kevin Flynn.  Kevin made the difficult decision almost a year ago, to step down as Chairman, to concentrate more on his Club (N C A A C, Northampton) and other pursuits.

Martin brings to this new role a wealth of experience both in the business and sports sectors and is an IP Coach in Trampoline and DMT, as well as an FIG brevet Judge in both of these disciplines.  He designed and built the renowned Jumpers Rebound Centre in Gillingham, Kent and is the owner and CEO of Gymaid, which is one of BG's sponsors. Since 2001, he has held a number of key positions including:

Director of British Gymnastics
Chair of the BG Trampoline Technical Committee
Director of the Kent Institute of Sport
Trustee of the South East Gymnastics Trust
Secretary of the European Gymnastics Union (UEG) Trampoline Technical Committee

In 2008, Martin took over from Paul Garber as Chair of South East Region - a position he still holds - and has been a member of the English Gymnastics Board for some time.

At the EGA Board of Directors Meeting on 3rd August 2016, it was approved that Paul Lipton (Chair of East Midlands Region) be appointed Vice Chairman of the Association, to help and support Martin in his new role.

English Gymnastics would like to wish Kevin a very long and happy retirement and also congratulate both Martin and Paul on their appointments and wish them all the very best for the future.
