The North of England Gymnastic Association is one the 10 English Gymnastics Regions. Gymnastics is coordinated by the Regional Executive Committee, who oversee the work of the Technical Committees, responsible for the various Gymnastic disciplines.
Clubs in the Region are required to pay an annual affiliation fee to North Gymnastics. Fees are due by December 1st each year. Affiliation to the Region offers many benefits, including a Handbook, regular newsletter and the opportunity to join in all regionally organised competitions, courses, seminars, squads and other events. To be accepted as an Affiliated Club, the coach in charge must hold, as a minimum, a British Gymnastics UKCC Level 2 (Club Coach) coaching qualification. All members of the Club - coaches and gymnasts, must also be registered with British Gymnastics. This is to ensure that everyone is appropriately qualified and insured. Clubs must also agree to follow regional rules and policy.
North Gymnastics provides a range of opportunities for all ages and abilities from pre-school to Adults There are a number of competitions and events offering fun and enjoyment for everyone, including those with special needs and elite performers. We are very proud to recognise the national and international competitors training and coaching in our clubs.
Gymnastic events are organised by a large army of willing volunteers who gain great enjoyment through their involvement in the sport. Not everyone needs to be a coach or judge, or have formal gymnastic qualifications - time, willingness and enthusiasm are valued and administrators, helpers and organisers are always needed at every level. Coaching and judging courses are organised, in line with British Gymnastics requirements, from Level 1 Assistant Coach to National and International standards. We have an annual programme of courses for all disciplines and we make extensive use of the resources available from British Gymnastics to ensure that our coaches and judges are trained to the highest levels. There are also courses in Club Management and Safeguarding to ensure that Affiliated Clubs are run to the highest possible standards.
Seminars, conferences, workshops, competitions, newsletters and courses ensure that we keep in regular touch with individual members and with all affiliated Clubs. North Gymnastics is also pleased to work closely with North of England Schools Gymnastics to support events and to offer courses and training for schools.
