Aerobic Gymnast Kayleigh Silva has been awarded the 2011 OCS 'Young Sports Person Award’ Winner for Wales.
She is the recent winner of the Welsh Open and Closed Championships; qualifying first in the 2011 Slovak Open and second in the 2011 French Open Championships and her next target is to challenge for the British Age group 2 title (15-17 years old) at the forthcoming Championships in Reading, 23/25 September.
Kayleigh, who trains and competes for “Martine’s Action Pack”, a volunteer run Aerobic Gymnastic Club in the South Wales Valleys said: ‘’I am delighted to accept the award on behalf of all the aerobic gymnasts who compete in this amazing sport, for all of my fellow athletes that drive and inspire me and, of course, my coaching team. Without their dedication and skills our sport would surely struggle for an audience’’
Kayleigh will be presented with her award at a celebration evening at the Oval Cricket Ground in November, following in the footsteps of Aerobics’ very own Sebastian De Vertueil and previous winners such as Louis Smith and Beth Tweddle.
Coach Martine Griffiths said: ‘’ Kayleigh is over the moon with this award and everyone in the club feels the award is a well- deserved recognition of her performance level and dedication to Aerobic Gymnastics. She is a credit to our club and to Aerobic Gymnastics’’
Many Thanks to OCS and Sport Aid for the support and recognition given to Kayleigh!
