Wednesday, 18 April, Lake Buena Vista, USA: The British Senior Squad in Acrobatic Gymnastics will return home from Florida very proud, with a tally of 1 gold 2 silver and 1 bronze World medals.
Their composure, style and mastery at these World Championships were remarkable. They proved that Great Britain is an established power in this discipline and is there to stay.
Gold medal: Men’s Four
At the previous World Championships in Wrozlaw, Poland 2010 Britain’s four Adam Buckingham, Adam McAssey, Alex Uttley and Jonathan Stranks won the gold medal 0.053 ahead of China. This time Dorian Walker, Jesse Heskett, Richard Hurst, Matthew Evison shared the World Champions’ title with the representatives of the mighty gymnastics nation, China.
Silver medals: GBR Team and Men’s Pair Adam McAssey & Edward Upcott
Bronze medal: Women’s Pair Poppy Spalding & Alanna Baker
7th place for the Mixed Pair Chris McGreevy & Emily McCarthy and 8th-for the Women’s Trio Liliana Walduck, Casey Morrison & Amber Campbell-White.
