British acrobats dominate in Florida

Sunday, 22 April 2012, Lake Buena Vista, USA: The Acrobatic Gymnastics week-long “World marathon” at the ESPN Wide World of Sport Complex finished with stunning success for the British competitors and a record medal tally across all age groups and disciplines:

World Championships and World Age Groups

Seniors:                    1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze medal

11-16 age group:       3 gold + 2 silver

12-19 juniors:            2 silver + 3 bronze

 

Sandra Sargeant, Head of Delegation:

“Team GB had an incredible World Age Group Championships! We medalled in all categories, with a tally of 3 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze. Superb performance from Team GB!”

Judy Wootton, Chair of British Gymnastics’ AG/TC:

“You can’t build a house without preparing its solid base first. We have been working for this success for more than 23 years!”

Neil Griffiths, Head coach of Heathrow AC, a heavy contributor to the medal tally: “We are overwhelmed with the results! The “kids” exceeded all our expectations; they were brilliant today!”
