In the recent months British Gymnastics have been in discussion with Oak Medical Group in terms of the medical scheme, the team of consultants supporting the programme, the support we can provide to the members of British Gymnastics and the cost for the programme. By way of a very brief refresher, the scheme has been designed to assist gymnasts with the diagnosis of injuries and is targeted at elite gymnasts, National standard and above.
It is clear from the analysis on the numbers that over the last few years versus the cost of running the programme that there is currently insufficient demand, in which case we will need to review whether the scheme is viable for 2012/2013.
Therefore we need to quickly establish the level of interest from the members, however we will also extend the renewal period until 14th June to maximize the window for renewal, we will not bank any cheques, and if we have sufficient numbers to meet the cost of the scheme we will then continue to operate the programme in partnership with Warkwickshire Nuffield Hospital.
We will confirm the position post 14th June when we have a clearer indication of the level of interest for this service to remain. The scheme, should we continue, will continue to be supported from; Warwickshire Nuffield Hospital, Old Milverton Lane, Leamington, Warwickshire, CV32 6RW.To download an application form for the Medical Scheme for 2012 / 2013, please click here.
