First year senior Lauren Brash from West Lothian has officially secured her place on Team Scotland for this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The young starlet, who has previously competed for Team GB at the Australian Youth Olympics and was the 2013 Junior British all-around silver medallist, was recently announced as one of three rhythmic gymnasts set to represent Scotland at the Games and so far it seems to have been an exciting experience for the 15 year old…
“I was so happy and really excited to have been chosen for the Scottish team! We got sent to the Hydro in Glasgow which is where we will be competing and it was announced to everyone there that we had been selected, it was a great experience and we had to do lots of interviews and pictures.”
And more than anything Lauren is excited about the support of the home crowd this summer…
“I can’t wait for the crowd as it is in Scotland so I’m hoping the atmosphere will be great. We haven’t yet discussed our goals as a team but we just want to go out there, hit our routines and do our best.”
“I actually think moving into the senior category may mean there is a little less pressure on me as the competition will be tough and there isn’t as much expectations as when I was a junior but I still want to go out there and do my best."
Watch Lauren in action at last year’s British Championships!
