30 Acrobatic Clubs and 16 Tumbling Clubs will take part in this weekends prestigious Championships providing some 350 plus Gymnasts vying for titles, in Age Group, Junior and Senior events.
Many of the partnerships competing in Acrobatic Gymnastics enjoyed recent successes at The European Championships and European Age Group Games. Both the Senior and Junior Teams finished in silver medal position; the most successful team results ever, from a field of 22 Nations.
We have many of the medallists represented here this weekend, some within the same partnerships and others in newly formed partnerships, all chasing the coveted crown of “British Champion”.
The Age Group Team achieved a host of medals; Gold for Men’s Group and Silver in Women’s Pair, Men’s Pair, Mixed Pair and Women’s Group.
The Junior’s followed with Gold for Men’s Pair, Silver in the Mixed Pair and a Bronze for the Women’s Group.
The Senior’s were not to be outdone achieving Gold in the Women’s Groups and Bronze in Men’s Pair, Women’s Pair and Men’s Group.
On the Tumbling scene we also have many of the Tumblers who competed in the World Cup Series and the prestigious World Championships and the Age Group Competitions.
World Championships – 2007, in Women’s Tumbling Sarah Turner finished in 6th place and in Men’s Tumbling Charlie Burrows finished in 7th place, both are competing this weekend.
Age Group Men’s Tumbling:
Jordan Ramos finished in 6th place in the 11 –12 years, now competing in the 13-14 years category.
Shawn Gregory placed 4th in the 13 – 14 years, now competing in the 15-16 years category.
Peter Mewse also 4th position in the 17 – 18 years section, has now stepped up a gear and is competing in the Senior Men’s category.
Age Group Women’s Tumbling:
Zara McLean Gold and Jenny Dawes 4th place in the 17 – 18 years section.
Paige Clarke placed 3rd and Megan Green placed in 4th in the 13 – 14 years section, with Paige now competing in the 15-16 years category.
Samantha Rockett 3rd in the 15 – 16 years section, chasing the Gold medal in the same category.
Superb results achieved by our Gymnasts showing the wealth of talent within Great Britain.
The British Championships for the tumblers this year has the added bonus of being used as the final selection event for the European Championships and Age Group Games. All of this weekends Tumblers are chasing the much-needed results to add to their former achievements from the selection competition no1, recently held at the National Sports Centre.
Come and see the cream of Great Britain’s Acrobats and Tumblers perform there European and World ranked medal-winning performances on home ground; a feast of gymnastics at it’s very best.
