It was a great day for Great Britain on the first day of the 2016 Trampoline, Tumbling and Double-Mini Trampoline European Championships in Valladolid (ESP).
The junior boys trampoline team had an extremely successful day, coming away with team silver only 0.9 behind Belarus in gold. The team of Andrew Stamp, Alex Bradshaw, Joshua Newman and Rhys Northover scored 162.420 to make the podium and take the first team junior medal for GB men in 14 years. Individually, Andrew, Alex and Rhys also advance into the semi-finals.
It was a great day all round for our other gymnasts in qualifications too. GB was represented by one gymnast in the junior women’s trampoline, Isabelle Songhurst, who qualified in 4th into her semi-final.
In the tumbling competitions, the senior men (Kristof Willerton, Greg Townley, Elliott Browne, Michael Barnes) and women (Lucie Colebeck, Yasmin Taite, Ashleigh Long, Rachel Davies) qualified second behind Russia in both team qualifications and Greg, Kristof, Lucie and Rachel all made individual finals
In the double-mini trampoline, the senior men (Benjamin Atkins, Micheal McNabb, Andrew Houston, Daniel Sale) and women (Caitlin O’Brien, Ciara Donlevy, Kristy Way) made their respective team finals and Caitlin, Kirsty, Benjamin and Michael all made individual finals.
The competition continues right through to Sunday. Check out the official event website for more information including full results.
