The men's trampoline events take place on the 12th of August and women's events on the 13th of August.

Men and women compete individually, beginning with a qualification round, that consists of both compulsory and voluntary routines.

An individual trampoline routine is made up from ten skills and must start and finish on the feet with competition made up of a voluntary and set routines. The set routine includes a sequence of specific skills that all gymnasts must complete while thevoluntary or "vol" routine lets the gymnast create their own routine with the skills they want to perform. There is no time limit on performing the routines.

The best eight scorers from the qualification round advance to the final round and perform another voluntary routine and the athlete with the highest score wins overall.
