The very first British medals have been won at the 2017 British Gymnastics Championship Series in Liverpool.

In the senior women’s aerobics event, Olivia Goves from Bulmershe successfully took the title with a fast-paced, well executed routine to score 19.700. In the silver was teammate Niamh Keane (19.450) and bronze, Jasmine Potter (18.200).

Olivia said after: “I’m really proud and my coaches were really proud too. I couldn’t really tell if I was going to win, I thought I might have done enough but didn’t want to be over-confident before it finished. I was definitely nervous. I love how everyone comes together. We’re like a big team, supporting each other.”

In the senior men’s aerobics event, Marvin Gordon also from Bulmershe performed excellently to take the title with a score of 17.600.

It was a successful day for the Bulmershe squad, with their senior women’s trio, Boyce, Keane and Potter taking the top spot and the final senior title of the aerobic competition with 18.344.

Medals were also awarded in the aerobic age group finals and in the individual rhythmic under 9 and under 11 categories, with some beautiful performances as well as plenty of strong qualification routines across the disciplines.

The event continues across the weekend with rhythmic, acrobatic and TeamGym competitions, as well as the Gym for Life Challenge.
