GB gymnasts dominate at Olympic Hopes


Our rising stars in men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics have excelled at the Olympic Hopes competition in Liberec, Czech Republic.

Pavel Karnejenko, Adam Tobin, Raekwon Baptiste, Sam Mostowfi, Matthew Boardman and Korben Fellows took our men’s line up to team glory on the opening day with Pavel the top all-around scorer Adam in silver and Raekwon taking the bronze.

The medals kept coming in the apparatus finals with Adam taking bronze on floor, Korben gold on pommel, Adam gold on rings, Sam gold on vault with Pavel in bronze, Raekwon silver on parallel bars and Matthew gold on high bar.

Amelie Morgan, Phoebe Jakubczyk, Sioned Thomas, Paige Thomas, Annie Young and Halle Hilton combined to score 204 points to also guide them to team gold ahead of Hungary and Czech 1. Amelie Morgan topped the all-around standings with clubmate Phoebe Jakubczyk in silver. Amelie then took silver on vault with Paige winning bronze on bars, Phoebe gold on beam and finally Amelie took gold on floor with Phoebe in bronze.

Meanwhile, senior gymnast Charlie Fellows competed three apparatus at the Arthur Gander Memorial in Switzerland scoring 13.150 on vault, 11.450 on bars and 10.450 on floor.
