Transform a life this Christmas. The British Gymnastics Foundation want your donations to help support their hardship and inspirational grants programmes.
As of today, the charity has launched its Christmas campaign, where you can donate to the hardship and inspirational grants programmes. These programmes support people going through financial hardship or personal crisis.
The above video tells the story of Libby who was awarded an inspirational grant in 2015 which allowed her to get involved in gymnastics. Devastated by the loss of her mother which left Libby’s dad caring for her and her three sisters, the family were struggling to cope.
This was where the British Gymnastics Foundation came in.
Libby’s Dad really wanted to make Libby’s wish of doing gymnastics come true, but at such a difficult time for the family, this was hard. Libby’s Aunt found the British Gymnastics Foundation on the internet and explained Libby’s story. Her application for a grant was successful; and Libby was provided with two full terms of gymnastics classes paid for by the Foundation.
Gymnastics provided Libby with a much-needed focus following the loss of her mum; and two years on Libby is still loving her gymnastics with all her new friends at Bromley Valley Gymnastics Club. Libby now has gymnastics in her life each week, which gives her good reason to smile!
It’s because of the generosity of people within the gymnastics community, and those that have fundraised over the years for the Foundation, that they were able to do this.
This Christmas, the charity is hoping that you can donate so that people in a similar situation in the future can be supported by the Foundation.
In 2017 the Foundation awarded just over £17,000 to 73 people, ensuring that they could stay in our sport.
