Silver for James Hall at 2018 American Cup

James Hall2
European all-around bronze medallist James Hall has taken a brilliant silver medal at the 2018 American Cup with Kelly Simm finishing fifth in a strong field in the women’s all-around competition.

James produced encouraging performances across each of the six apparatus, including scores of 14.166 on pommel and 13.866 on high bar, and despite counting a fall on parallel bars was good enough to take home the silver medal with an all-around score of 83.297.

James said: "I started off a little shaky on floor after a long wait so that was a little hard to cater for but I got a good score. Picked up on pommel and got the highest score of the competitors on that so was really pleased with that performance.

"I was looking to go for good execution in this comp and not just to get through routines, trying to change my game a little bit. Rings and vault were steady and I got some good scores there. Unfortunate fall on pbar but the rest of it was clean.

"A strong finish on high bar (highest score out of competitors) with a nice routine which saw me to second place overall. It was a great opportunity to build my experience ahead of a busy few weeks."

It was great to also see Kelly back in action with the highlight of her competition a score of 13.833 on vault, helping her to a score of 51.898 all-around. See the full results.
