Team England were once again on the medal podium amongst the Commonwealths best women’s all-around gymnasts, with Alice Kinsella taking a brilliant bronze in a tense competition, scoring 53.150 points. The gold medal went to Canada’s Ellie Black with Australian Georgia Godwin winning silver.
The competition was extremely close throughout with barely a point splitting the top six gymnasts going to floor, the final apparatus.
Alice said after: “I went out on to floor and tried to go exactly what I do in training and see what happened. I could have done better but I’m still really proud of myself. I have worked so hard for this, it was one of my goals and one of my goals was to get an all-around medal after the world cup and that’s what I did.”
Alice’s teammate Kelly Simm had a costly fall on beam that hampered her medal chances, however she still produced some impresive routines to finish with 52.600 and 5th place. Latalia Bevan and Maisie Methuen of Team Wales couldn’t be separated. Both girls producing some excellent routines to score an impressive 52.550 points, placing 6th and 7th.
Team Scotland were represented by Cara Kennedy who scored 49.150 for 9th and Shannon Archer who scored 48.850 to place 10th.
Isle of Man gymnast Nicole Burns scored 44.300 points for her four routines finishing in 15th place.
Competing for Jersey, Bonita Shurmer scored 43.550 to finish in 17th and Rachelle Flambard finished in 18th with a score of 42.450.
