This week we’re celebrating the very first Coaching Week (4th-10th June), launched by UK Coaching.
Coaches are vital to the success of our sport. They coach our youngest gymnasts and give them their earliest memories, right through to coaching at the elite level, guiding our Olympians, giving them the best chance to succeed on the world stage.
Emma Atkins, Director of Coaching at UK Coaching said: "Great coaching utilises sport and physical activity to meet our motivations, benefit and transform our lives. As the lead organisation for coaching excellence it’s our vision to help create an active nation inspired through great coaching."
More people are taking part in gymnastics at local clubs and in leisure centres than ever before, and coaches are vital to their involvement and development in gymnastics.
Are you a parent of a young gymnast that wants to learn more about gymnastics? Would you like to help out at your local club? Do you want to take your first steps in to a career coaching gymnastics, helping to develop future British champions? If so, there is no better time to begin your journey.
If you’re new to coaching gymnastics and not sure how to get started, there are two courses you can choose from, available for beginners.
There is the Award Scheme Coaching course which will allow you to learn fundamental skills and gain foundation knowledge of gymnastics.
The second will guide you through the UKCC Level 1 coaching course. By passing this course you can become an assistant coach within your chosen gymnastics discipline.
Both of these courses are available to all, regardless of previous experience or ability.
Find out more about all of our available coaching courses or book yourself on to a course.
