Aerobic and rhythmic British champions crowned on final day of action in Telford

Multiple British titles were awarded today on what was the final day of the 2018 Aerobic and Rhythmic British Championships held in Telford.

In the senior aerobic categories, Niamh Keane from Bulmershe performed a well-executed routine to take the women’s title with 20.200, just 0.1 ahead of teammate Renee Augier with 20.100. Finishing with the bronze was another Bulmershe gymnast, Kate Donnelly with 19.800.

Niamh said after: "It's amazing, I have never won a British Championships before. I have been close and gone to a world championships before but never actually won an individual British title. No way was I expecting it! I did as well as I could today and it paid off."

Rhys Williams from Weston Aerobics took the senior men’s title with a strong routine and a score of 19.550.

The top three senior women’s individual medallists (Niamh, Renee and Kate) went on to take the trio title with an energetic performance to score 19.188. All three girls then bagged their third British title alongside teammates Olivia Goves and Ella Augier as part of the senior group. The girls finished the aerobic competitions in style with a great routine and a score of 19.661.

In the senior pairs, individual men’s champion Rhys Williams joined forces with Isidora Vucicevic to take the title with 17.850.

In the senior rhythmic apparatus finals, the titles were split across three gymnasts. Fresh from her all-around silver, Hannah Martin from i-Star grabbed herself two titles in the ribbon (13.350) and hoop (15.650) with two impressive performances. All-around champion Laura Halford took the clubs title with a very intricate and difficult routine to score a strong 16.700, with teammate Gemma Frizelle impressing with the ball to take the gold (14.650).
