We are sad to announce that Robin (Rob) Charles Walker, an Honorary Member of the former International Trampoline Federation (FIT) and pioneer of trampoline gymnastics in the UK, passed away on the 6th July, five days before his 86th birthday.
In 1961, Robin Walker was the Chair of the BAGA Trampoline Sub Committee until the BTA (later British Trampoline Federation, BTF) was established.
He was the Chief Executive of the BTF from 1963 until it merged with the British Gymnastics Association in July 1999.
Rob was also the Founder of the International Trampoline Federation (FIT) along with many influential others. 1964 saw the first World Trampoline Championships run at the Albert Hall by Ted Blake and trampoline inventor George Nissen with Rob as the Technical Advisor.
In 1989 Rob was awarded a Gold Medal for 25 years’ service to the FIT before it eventually merged with the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
