British Gymnastics are saddened to announce that former Director of Lilleshall National Sports Centre, Derek Tremayne, passed away on the 15th September 2018, aged 88.
Former British Gymnastics international and National Coach and Director of Gymnastics for Scotland, John White, said: "Derek, as Director of Lilleshall National Sports Centre, was instrumental in securing the establishment of Lilleshall as a world class gymnastics training venue and the home of British Gymnastics."
Former British Gymnastics Performance Director John Atkinson MBE adds: "Derek turned Lilleshall National Recreation Centre into a national sports centre. He was responsible for the development of our National Gymnastics Centre which remains one of the best in the world.
"At present there are many European, world and Olympic medallists and champions training there. A former National Athletics coach to Kenya, Derek was also strongly involved with English Table Tennis, having served both as its Secretary General and Vice President.
"Derek will be remembered as a man of great charm and warmth who helped many people achieve their dreams."
