Every month, we’ll be highlighting some of the great work that’s being done by our Leadership Academies. To start us off, in the spotlight this month it’s the Leadership Academy of Stevenage Sports Acrobatic Club, who ran a tumbling competition as part of their ‘MY Project’.
The competition, held on the 24th June at Marriott’s Gymnastics Club, was for entry level gymnasts aged 5-13 who have never competed in tumbling before. From the offset the young leaders had a huge role to play in the organisation and running of the event. Having agreed roles of compere, scoring, judging, organising gymnasts, running the warm up, taking entrance money, organising trophies and creating the programme and running order, they certainly had a busy, but productive day ahead of them!
The judges were young leaders who had recently participated in our ‘Intro to Judging’ course, so were putting their new and enhanced skills to good use – a big congratulations to Lucy Allen, Keira Bhasin, Ellie-Mae Gibson and Georgia Brown for completing the course and furthermore, gaining some first-hand experience. We hope you enjoyed it!
The competition saw 64 entrants from local clubs and every participant had an enjoyable day. We love hearing such positive feedback. Well done to all the young leaders who played a part in the success of the day. Your hard work really paid off!
If your Leadership Academy has recently ran a course, an open day or an event which deserves to be in the next edition of the Academy Spotlight, let us know!
