The British Gymnastics National Awards take place tomorrow evening (26th January) at Birmingham Town Hall, and will celebrate the achievements of some of the most inspirational people within the gymnastics community.
One of the awards that will be presented on the night is the Education Award, which recognises an organisation or individual who has played a crucial role in providing excellence in delivery of coach education.
Congratulations and good luck to all of our final nominees, who you can read more about below:
An invaluable member of the North West workforce as both a tutor and assessor for women’s artistic, men’s artistic, and general gymnastics, Gary is always professional in his delivery of courses and assessments, working promptly and efficiently. Over the years Gary has travelled to regions outside of the North West to run courses and is an outstanding member of the workforce. Very supportive as a colleague and a mentor, the feedback about Gary is always excellent.
Paddy (Alan) Lavelle
Specialising in tumbling, Paddy is tireless in his efforts to ensure all future coaches get the right information and mentoring, allowing them to fulfil their potential. His willingness to help knows no bounds, and if he’s asked to do a job, he does it and within a timescale. Paddy’s passion for the tumbling discipline and his professional approach is outstanding, with the success of that particular section owing a lot to the hours he has put in.
Preschool Panel (Jane Sims, Mary L Wright BEM, Sine Rance & Arleen Smith)
Responsible for the technical content and resources for preschool gymnastics, the Preschool Panel have worked as a volunteer subcommittee of the National Coach Education Panel (NCEP) for many years. Over the last year, this group have worked with the Education team at British Gymnastics, introducing the biggest change to preschool gymnastics education in over a decade. The new course increases access for coaches and clubs to expand their preschool offering, giving more children the opportunity to experience our sport. This change wouldn’t have been possible without their input and commitment.
Make sure you’re following us on Twitter throughout the evening, for news on all of the winners as they are announced.
