City of Birmingham’s Joe Fraser will be representing Great Britain in his home town at the Gymnastics World Cup on 23rd March at Resorts World Arena (formerly Genting Arena), Birmingham.
Following the announcement of Nile Wilson withdrawal (read more) yesterday, Joe has been called up to compete in this prestigious all-around event, taking on the world best.
Joe commented: “It’s incredible to have the opportunity to compete in my home city. It’s going to be a completely new experience for me to compete in Birmingham and have the home crowd with me. My friends and family will be there to see me and finally get to understand what I work so hard for on a day to day basis. Taking on the world’s best is a real privilege, it’s a competition you don’t get to do that often.
We’re all really gutted for Nile, he will be in my thoughts all the way through the competition. I’ve been in the same position as him missing out due to injury last year and he was so supportive of me. I’ll be doing everything I can to prove I’m worthy of taking his place and will be aiming to do him and my country proud”
