The European Games artistic gymnastics competition has got underway at Minsk Arena with qualifying for the all-around and apparatus finals.
With the top 18 gymnasts making Saturday’s all-around final and the top six on each apparatus (only one per nation) for Sunday’s apparatus finals it made for a tough and nail-biting day waiting for scores to come through.
The final placings produced seven finals to look forward to. Giarrni and Georgia-Mae will all be back in action in Saturday’s all-around final, Giarrni scoring 81.532 to qualify in ninth whilst Georgia-Mae scored 53.733 to finish a superb second in the women’s standings.
Looking ahead to Sunday’s apparatus finals, Team GB gymnasts will be busy with Becky Downie topping the bars qualifying (14.433) and Georgia-Mae competing on beam. Giarrni will be in action in the vault and floor finals with Brinn competing in parallel bars.
Jake Jarman put in some notable performances on his senior major championship debut with his vault and floor particularly impressing.
