The 2019 British Gymnastics Championship Series takes place from 25th-28th July at M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool, and will see champions crowned across four disciplines; acrobatic, aerobic, rhythmic and TeamGym.
Over the next four weeks, we’re dedicating a week to each of the disciplines on display, and this week it’s all about Aerobic Gymnastics! Here’s all you need to know:
So what is Aerobic Gymnastics?
Aerobic Gymnastics requires more energy than any other discipline, with routines performed individually or in pairs, trios or groups. Gymnasts perform their routines to fast paced music coupled with incredible choreography. Don’t blink, otherwise you might miss it.
Who are the ones to watch?
There are plenty to watch, but in the seniors look no further than Niamh Keane from Bulmershe Gym Club. Niamh is the current British champion having triumphed last year. She’ll no doubt face tough competition from her European Games teammates though, with Kate Donelly, Isidora Vucicevic and Rene Augier all vying for the title.
How can I get involved?
If you like the sound of Aerobic Gymnastics and want to take part, you can find out more information by heading to Discover and searching for clubs near you.
Tickets are on sale for the 2019 British Gymnastics Championship Series. Make sure you don’t miss it.
