Brand-new Honda for British artistic champions

2019 senior artistic all-around champions James Hall and Ellie Downie have collected their new Honda Civic cars courtesy of our longstanding relationship with Honda.

As reward for their British titles, Honda are supporting our champions by providing a brand-new Honda Civic to assist with travelling to and from training and competitions.

Dave Lythgoe, Major Accounts Manager for Honda said: "Honda is a family orientated company and all of the values we have are very similar to that of British Gymnastics. Our cars are sporty and dynamic, but we pride ourselves on being one big family, and British Gymnastics are very much like that. We’re delighted to be able to support the gymnasts."

With a huge year to come, James and Ellie are now focussing on training for the World Championships in Stuttgart this October.

Speaking after collecting the car, James said: "I’m very pleased with it. It really is a perk of winning the British title, and it almost signifies the hard work you put in. Getting to the gym every day, and up to Lilleshall National Sports Centre when we have squads is difficult, especially when you’ve got an older car, so to have a car like this is absolutely amazing. It’ll make an enormous difference."

Ellie added: "I love the car. It really is amazing to have the support of Honda. Having had a car when I won the British for the first time in 2017, I know how much of a difference it made, so I’m so happy to have the chance to have a Honda again for another year."
