All you need to know about Acrobatic Gymnastics

Spelthorne 750x500
The 2019 British Gymnastics Championship Series takes place from 25th-28th July at M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool, and will see champions crowned across four disciplines; acrobatic, aerobic, rhythmic and TeamGym.

We’ve already taken a look at all things aerobic gymnastics, and shone a spotlight on rhythmic gymnastics, but this week we’re giving you a run down on acrobatic gymnastics.

With less than two weeks to go until the gymnasts head to Liverpool, there’s still chance for you to see it live. Get your tickets.

So what is Acrobatic Gymnastics?
Acrobatic Gymnastics requires an extraordinary amount of courage and trust amongst gymnasts. Routines are choreographed to music and presented on a 12x12m sprung floor where gymnasts require strength, agility, flexibility, balance and acrobatic skills to score well. The results are spectacular! You’ll see intricate balances performed on partners, exciting multiple somersaults and twisting somersaults with partners being thrown and caught.

If you’ve never seen acrobatic gymnastics before, it’s definitely worth a watch. It really is spectacular! Take a look at this routine from Spelthorne's men's four back in 2017. If you want to see more, watch the acrobatic playlist on our YouTube channel.
