Our junior women’s team of Annie Young, Halle Hilton and Ondine Achampong have won a brilliant bronze medal on day two of the 2019 European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The team scored 103.850 to secure a place on the podium, behind Romania in second and Russia in first.
The team final also doubled up as qualification for the individual all-around and individual apparatus finals. Ondine (52.150) and Halle (51.200) both successfully qualified for the all-around final in third and seventh place. Annie finished in ninth place with 51.000 but missed out due to the two per country limit rule.
Ondine and Halle also have finals to look forward to on beam, as they qualified in first and second; Ondine scoring 13.450 to take top spot, with Halle just behind with 13.350 in second.
On the opening day the junior boys team of Luke Whitehouse, Sam Mostowfi and Raekwon Baptiste narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing in fourth place with 158.250, less than a mark off a medal.
Sam has finals to look forward to in the all-around (78.350), floor (13.700) and vault 13.450), with Raekwon also successfully qualifying for the all-around (78.300) and vault (14.175) finals.
