POW! Academy, a joint initiative between British Gymnastics and The Powerpuff Girls, challenges gymnasts to show off their talents and be proud of their achievements, focused on linking the skills they have learnt in their gymnastics sessions into creative sequences.
As part of their ambassadorial duties, Ellie and Giarnni want to inspire gymnasts up and down the country to learn exciting skills. The gymnasts will be helping to promote the initiative to the gymnastics community, with a few surprises along the way. Keep an eye on our website and social media over the coming months for exclusive POW! Academy updates from Ellie and Giarnni.
Ellie Downie who helped launch POW! Academy said, “This is a great idea to keep kids excited to learn and to display their skills in a new format. The focus is firmly on the fun of taking part and feeling awesome. It will help to ensure kids leave sessions with big smiles on their faces”.
Giarnni, who is new to this initiative comments: “I’m proud to support the POW! Academy. I’m really looking forward to working with the amazing characters and young gymnasts. Gymnastics is all about having fun and the POW! Academy is a great way to inspire kids and celebrate gymnastics.”
Aimed at budding gymnasts aged 5-11 years, POW! Academy challenges gymnasts to showcase their talents, to be proud of their achievements and display their skills in a brand-new way. We know gymnastics develops so much more than physical skills, so we want to reward gymnasts for demonstrating qualities shared with The Powerpuff Girls, creating happy, positive and active children!
Clubs and delivery partners can use POW! Academy in lots of different ways, for example running alongside Core Proficiency, as a stand-alone holiday activity or built into Christmas events to show off skills and achievements.
