We are delighted to announce the final shortlisted nominees for the 2020 British Gymnastics National Awards.
Taking place on 25th January 2020 at The International Centre, Telford, the evening will recognise and celebrate the achievements of the most inspirational people within our gymnastics community.
A huge congratulations to everyone nominated, and to the following for being shortlisted:
The National Club Award is presented to a British Gymnastics affiliated club that provides a quality experience for its members. This year sees us introduce two separate awards in this category; one for clubs with under 250 members and one for those with over 250 members.
Shortlisted in the under 250 members category are Sparta Trampoline Club, Stevenage Sports Acrobatic Club and Weston Aerobic Gymnastics Club. Shortlisted in the over 250 members category are Canterbury Gymnastics Club, Prime Acrobatics and Valleys Gymnastics Academy.
The National Volunteer Award recognises a volunteer over the age of 18 whose contribution to gymnastics has been invaluable, with their efforts instrumental in the work behind the scenes. Shortlisted are Peter and June Brooke, Ellen Robinson, Lindsay Rutherford and sisters Claire Nichols and Tracey Griffiths.
Josie Cooper, Lucy Wallace and Mia Ivinson are shortlisted for the National Young Volunteer Award which recognises a young person between the ages of 11 and 18 who has volunteered their time and enthusiasm to help others enjoy our sport.
This year there will be two winners of the Equality and Inclusion Award, with both an individual and a club or organisation being recognised for marking a significant contribution to equality and diversity through the delivery of a quality inclusive gymnastics programme. For the individual award, shortlisted are Jacqui Taylor and Joanne Dicken, and for the club or organisation award are Trafford Trampoline Club and Valleys Gymnastics Academy.
Carina Brown, Enid Harrison and Pete Etherington are the final three shortlisted for the Education Award. This Award recognises someone for playing a crucial role in providing excellence in the delivery of coach education.
There are two finalists shortlisted for the National Safeguarding Award which recognises an individual who has delivered a committed and enthusiastic service to the welfare and safeguarding of children. Congratulations to Clare Saporita and Michele Cowan for being shortlisted.
There will be several other recognitions made on the night too, with the following awards;
