Tumbling medal haul concludes incredible World Age Group Championships for GB

Britain’s junior tumbling gymnasts have produced sensational results at the 2019 Trampoline, Tumbling & DMT World Age Group Championships to conclude a fantastic four days in Tokyo.

The opening two days of competition saw GB claim five medals, with the final two days bringing eight more, showcasing the strength in depth across the disciplines.

The 11-12 age group was the youngest on show at the Championships, but it was where GB’s tumbling gymnasts shone.

In the women’s final, British gymnasts incredibly claimed the top four places. Jaeda-Lei Jeffers secured gold with 32.200, Lottie Clarke silver with 31.500, Alicia Field won bronze scoring 31.500 (placing behind Lottie on execution score), and Sophie Campbell finished just outside the medals in fourth with 31.000.

The 11-12 men’s tumbling final also brought two medals. Bailey Forbes took silver, scoring 31.300 with teammates Tristan Singelee scoring 31.200 for bronze. Freddy Liggins also qualified for the final and scored 30.400 to place seventh.

In the 13-14 tumbling competitions, our gymnasts also excelled. In the women’s final, Naana Oppon (33.400) took a brilliant silver medal, and Comfort Yeates, also competing in the final, did well to finish seventh.

In the men’s 13-14 tumbling final, Jake Parry concluded a fantastic couple of days for our tumbling gymnasts, scooping silver, scoring 33.100. Malakai Bojang and Benjamin Collington-Mears also made the final, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

The final medal of the Championships for GB fell to double mini trampoline gymnast Madeleine Tarrant. Madeleine had earlier qualified in second place, and replicated that in the final to take home silver with 65.300.
