Rio Olympic Games bronze medallist, Amy Tinkler, has announced her retirement from competitive gymnastics.
Amy retires having become the first British woman to win an Olympic floor medal when she claimed bronze in Brazil. During the Games, Amy was Team GB’s youngest member at 16 years old.
At the 2015 World Championships, Amy was part of the British team that made history when they won bronze in Glasgow. In the same year, she became British all-around champion.
In a statement released today, Amy said: "When one door closes, another one opens. Thank you to the gymnastics community, you’ve been my whole life and this is not goodbye. In the short term, I’m excited to try new opportunities, especially in an Olympic year like this one where I know Team GB will again capture the Nation’s attention by delivering a fantastic performance in Tokyo."
