Gymnastics activity to return in England from Wednesday 2nd December

Gymnastics activity to return in England on 2nd Dec
We’re pleased to confirm that from Wednesday 2nd December, gymnastics clubs in England will be able to reopen following the publication of the government’s Covid-19 Winter Plan.

On 2nd December, national restrictions will be lifted and England will move back into a regional, local restriction tier system. Details on which areas are in which tiers has been announced and you can check your area via the government’s postcode checker.

Below we have outlined what activity is permitted to take place in each tier.

Tier 1 – Medium
  • Activity for under 18s (including those who are aged under 18 before 31st August 2020) and disabled participants can take place under the Covid-secure guidance outlined in the Step Forward Plan.
  • Activities and disciplines identified within the Team Sport Framework Action Plan can take place for under 18s and disabled participants.
  • Parent and toddler sessions can take place under the Covid-secure guidance outlined in the Step Forward Plan.
  • Adults can take part in gymnastics sessions indoors. Where team sport activity is taking place the rule of six must be followed.
Tier 2 – High
  • Activity for under 18s  (including those who are aged under 18 before 31st August 2020) and disabled participants can take place under the Covid-secure guidance outlined in the Step Forward Plan.
  • Activities and disciplines identified within the Team Sport Framework Action Plan can take place for under 18s and disabled participants.
  • Parent and toddler sessions can take place under the Covid-secure guidance outlined in the Step Forward Plan.
  • Adults may continue to train individually (unless part of the same household or support bubble i.e. only one person on a piece of apparatus at any one time or individual warm-ups).
  • Activity under the Team Sport Framework for those aged 18 and over is not permitted (unless part of the same household or support bubble).
Tier 3 – Very High

In this tier, tighter restrictions are in place to combat very high levels of infections.

Please note, indoor play centres, and areas including soft play must close under tier 3 local restrictions, therefore sessions where children under 5 and adults have free movement of the gymnastics space should not take place. This also includes ‘free play’ sessions for children of any age.
  • Adults may continue to train individually (unless part of the same household or support bubble i.e. only one person on a piece of apparatus at any one time or individual warm-ups).
  • Activity under the Team Sport Framework for those aged 18 and over is not permitted (unless part of the same household or support bubble).

Activity for elite athletes can continue to take place across all three tiers. More information on the restrictions can be found on gov.uk.
