Pavel and Georgia-Mae host online session with top disability gymnasts
Some of Britain’s best disability gymnasts have taken part in an online session with artistic stars Pavel Karnejenko and Georgia-Mae Fenton.
Including gymnasts who competed at the last Disability British Championships, and those who had qualified for the Disability Masters event which was unfortunately cancelled due to Coronavirus, 15 gymnasts were in attendance for the session.
The online session was set up by the Disability Gymnastics Panel which was formed in October last year to provide more opportunities for disabled participants, with the group aiming to influence, shape and drive inclusive opportunities in gymnastics.
During the call, Georgia-Mae and Pavel led the training that focussed on conditioning and body shaping exercises.
Angela Turner, Chair of the Disability Gymnastics Panel, said: “This was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the achievements of these gymnasts. The training session led by Pavel and Georgia-Mae was excellent and I think gave the gymnasts a real boost after so many months under lockdown. They are all keen to get back to the gym and back to training.”
We would like to take this opportunity to thank both Pavel and Georgia-Mae for taking part, and to all the gymnasts that were able to attend.
The Panel have met three times virtually this year so far, with the focus being on creating a four-year action plan. This will be linked to each discipline and will aim to create more opportunities. A number of areas have been identified as a focus already which we’ll bring you more information about in the coming months.
