We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk in our sport and we are actively engaged in the implementation of our safeguarding policy. We work closely with the NSPCC’s Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) and have achieved the National Advanced Standards for Safeguarding and Protecting Children in sport. Working alongside our clubs and statutory agencies we ensure that safeguarding is prioritised and any allegation, suspicion of harm or concern is taken seriously and responded to swiftly, fairly and appropriately.
Our internal Safeguarding Children Implementation Plan sets out the action we take to achieve continual improvement across the sport. The British Gymnastics Safeguarding and Protecting policy provides a framework for all those involved in gymnastics to meet their duty of care towards children, young people and adults at risk, and is mandatory for all British Gymnastics members (except where there are home country variations arising from legislative differences). Any individual or organisation that is providing a service to British Gymnastics must also demonstrate that they comply with these standards. As part of our commitment to best practice in the care of children, British Gymnastics expects all of its members to comply with the policy.
Details of the policies that support Safeguarding in our sport can be found at our dedicated Safeguarding page designed for parents and guardians.
